New Orleans

My husband and I, with friends, took a cruise this past November. We started in New Orleans. I have been to NO a few times, but not since hurricane Katrina. We spent a couple of nights there before we left on the cruise. It sure brought back a lot of memories. We headed for the French Quarter and ate the the NOLA Cookery. We went for traditional food.
Red beans and rice.

Deep fried crab cakes.

Shrimp po boy.

And one of my favorites, oysters on the half shell!

The next day we went on a swamp tour on an air boat. What fun. We had been on a totally different kind of swamp tour a few years ago. This one had no snakes and faster boats!
Mossy trees in the bayou.

Our guide enticing an alligator with a chicken neck.

Me and my new friend!

Alligator in the swamp. One of many we saw.

They blend in well.
They are really creepy.
Back in New Orleans on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi.
A beautiful paddle wheeler on the river. I love these river boats.
After a long day, we had to go to Cafe du Monde for beignets!
